Car door has child lock on and wont open from in or out?
My buddy just bought a 98 honda civic 4 door. the rear driver’s door wont open from the outside, only the inside due to that metal piece simply coming loose in the door. Now his friend put the child lock on (I dont know why…) and it wont open any way. What do we do? How can we safely get the door open?
That is going to be a devil. The way I would approach it (it will probably require taking the door panel off the passenger side door to see what to do) is to roll the window down and try to operate the release from the gap between the outside of the window and the door. The only other way I see is to roll the window up and to unfasten the inside panel at the front (I presume it is like the 1993 Accord we have here and the rear is caught behind the seat and the frame) and try to work through there. I’m pretty sure it can be done but I’m pretty sure it can’t be done easily.

Pilsner should have said HE cant. Take the trim and panel off of the inside of the door, there is a wire that connects the locking mechinisim to the handle that has become disconnected, re connect reinstall panel, you will be good. BTDT.
